Modeling Mine Workforce Fatigue: Finding Leading Indicators of Fatigue in Operational Data Sets
نویسندگان
چکیده
Mine workers operate heavy equipment while experiencing varying psychological and physiological impacts caused by fatigue. These vary in scope severity across operators unique mine operations. Previous studies show the impact of fatigue on individuals, raising substantial concerns about safety operation. Unfortunately, data exist to illustrate risks, mechanisms complex pattern contributors are not understood sufficiently, illustrating need for new methods model manage fatigue’s performance safety. Modern technology computational intelligence can provide tools improve practitioners’ understanding workforce Many mines have invested monitoring (PERCLOS, EEG caps, etc.) as a part their health control system. these systems “lagging indicators” and, many instances, only alerts too late worker cycle. Thus, following question arises: other operational leading indicators that managers front-line supervisors use help cope with levels? This paper explores common sets available at most modern how be used The include operational, safety, health, weather data. A machine learning (ML) algorithm is presented tool process issues such ML this study identify potential management make better decisions. Initial findings confirm existing knowledge tying time day hours worked. first generation models future will forthcoming.

Stochastic human fatigue modeling in production systems
The performance of human resources is affected by various factors such as mental and physical fatigue, skill, and available time in the production systems. Generally, these mentioned factors have effects on human reliability and consequently change the reliability of production systems. Fatigue is a stochastic factor that changes according to other factors such as environmental conditions, work...
متن کاملIndicators of fatigue in truck drivers.
This study examined physiological and psychological changes in one solo truck driver and both drivers in a two-up truck crew during several 5-6 day round-trips to the north west of Western Australia. Endocrine catecholamine levels, cardiac sinus arrhythmia and serial reaction performance all showed progressive changes over the journey. The solo driver showed greater changes on most measures tha...

Since appearance of fatigue is a reality in rehabilitation sessions, developing a muscle model that is able to cope with this effect in dynamic contractions is a must. In this paper we attempt to model the effect of fatigue in a Hill type muscle model with weighting sum of joint torques. The promising results will contribute to achieving a generalized model that is able to mold to different mov...
متن کاملLeading indicators of operational risk on the railway: A novel use for underutilised data recordings
Flight Data Monitoring (FDM) is the process by which data from on-board recorders, or so-called ‘black boxes’, is analysed after every journey to detect subtle trends which, if allowed to continue, would lead to an accident. An opportunity has been identified to advance the state of the art in FDM processes by coupling recorder data to established Human Factors methodologies so that issues aris...
متن کاملStochastic modeling of fatigue crack propagation
This paper presents a stochastic model of fatigue-induced crack propagation in metallic materials. The crack growth rate predicted by the model is guaranteed to be non-negative. The model structure is built upon the underlying principle of Karhunen±Lo eve expansion and does not require solutions of stochastic dierential equations in either Wiener integral or Itô integral setting. As such this ...
